Killergrams are a four-piece alternative blues and country rock band, based in Queenstown, New Zealand. Delivering a stark, compelling live act, Killergrams are settling once again into life in Otago. Sharing a love for solid blues, country and alt-rock styles, along with well-crafted lyrics, moving from acoustic and electric guitars to the piano, sometimes in the same song. After recent gigs at Christchurch Arts Festival and the newly founded Tuki Festival, Killergrams prepare to complete their current works in progress.
Killergrams formed in 2015 and quickly released a beautifully produced E.P. in May that year, receiving critical acclaim along the way. Recorded and mixed by David Craig and mastered by Chris Chetland at Kog Studios in Auckland, their debut EP “So In The Night” evokes moments of Ryan Adams, Ray La Montagne, Sharon Van Etten and Neil Young, along with an artistry that hits the aural pleasure-zone, demanding repeat plays.
Killergrams new live set is comprised of older, unreleased and newer material written between the recording of their debut album in Dunedin and a hasty move up to Christchurch where the band worked to establish themselves in the city's booming original music scene. These new songs reflect on heartbreak, loss, doubt and disillusionment during the last two years of the band's life, however, there are also ideas about the positivity of change, starting anew and hope moving forward.
