The multiple iwi that watch over Tahuna Queenstown will meet all incoming manuhiri with a spectacular Waka Ama and Mau Rakau demonstration – allowing manuhiri (our guests) to be welcomed and accepted into our winter celebrations. You’ll then be accompanied to the Bath house stage where you’ll experience a Ngai Tahu led welcome ceremony/ mihi whakatau with representatives from our local Primary school students.
Blending our beautiful traditions with Queenstown’s melting pot of cultures we celebrate the opening of the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival at dusk in the picturesque Queenstown Bay.
After our blessing, the Bath House stage will have unmissable performances by the Legendary Trinity Roots & Ladi6!
Trinity Roots embody Aotearoa in its entirety, expressing home, land and sea like no other kiwi band can. Their career spans a lifetime and with a brief hiatus between 2005 - 2011 we can’t wait to have them on the Winter Fest stage, experiencing the surge of rhythm that they exude.
Following these kiwi icons, we have our Queen - introducing, Ladi6.
Undoubtedly New Zealand’s premier female vocalist MC, Ladi6 is renowned for her enigmatic and unique live performances. Our hiphop/ soul and rnb Queen closes the Bath house stage tonight and brings what will be a truly magical evening to a end.
Classic, iconic kiwi sounds launch our stage tonight - you won’t want to miss this.
