What would Winter Fest be without our Friday night Fireworks? Lake Wakatipu lights up as we continue our winter celebration with our 7pm fireworks display and live music from local heroes The Cellar Doors, Wellington party starters the Richter City Rebels, chart topper Mitch James and super group L.A.B. on the Bath House stage. We also may throw in a wee surprise for you…..
Wrap up warm as you’re going to want to stay out late.
Our live performances are second to none tonight - what a treat we have in store for you!
Kicking us off we have local fav’s The Cellar Doors. Sam Maxwell and his band are regular features at the Blue Door and have been playing our circuits for years gaining a tonne of local support.
Wellington based Richter City Rebels are fuuulllll of charisma - trumpets, trombones, saxes, sousaphone and percussion bring the ultimate mardi gras party to our festival stage, get ready to get hyped.
Mitch James - taking the charts by storm with his huge singles ‘21’ and ‘Move on’, Mitch has quickly become a nation’s sweetheart. Opening for Ed Sheeran in Dunedin quickly motivated a national tour and a helluva lotta love. Mitch was always an online sensation, now he’s a bonafide Kiwi superstar.
If you’ve seen L.A.B. live before, you’ll know this is a no brainer. A combination of Katchafire, Kora and the mighty vocals of Joel Shadbolt (Batacuda Sound Machine) - L.A.B. are absolute powerhouses. No stranger to a festival stage, the band’s energetic soulful rock rhythms will carry across Lake Wakatipu with exceptional melodies that will stick with you for days. Another example of why Queenstown is the only place to launch our Winter season.
Our festival bars will be open, and we’ll have some brilliant food vendors all around they bay. Wrap up warm and celebrate the 2019 Real Journeys Winter Festival with new friends and old.
