Where do I find all the action

Venues

Winterfest 2010 will see three major venues

Coronet Peak, Downtown Queenstown and the American Express Ice Box. All mountain events take place at Coronet Peak right in front of the Sun Deck so you don't have to be a skier to catch the action and they have a great cafe if you get a hunger on.

Downtown events happen at Earnslaw Park or lakeside. The Dog Barking competition however is at the Village Green and the Stag Roar will be at the Speight's Ale House. Check the programme guide and below for more details.

ABOUT CORONET PEAK

Over 60 years of passion and a commitment to quality has created a world renowned ski area at Coronet Peak. A multi-million dollar investment last year has transformed this much loved mountain, resulting in its elevation to true world-class status. The stunning new base building provides fantastic facilities and hosts magnificent views. A sense of arrival is embraced via a new entrance level which makes getting to the slopes easier and quicker than ever with a logical progression through the on-mountain services. Upstairs, the cafe, restaurant and bar areas open to a massive sheltered deck. A brand new, state of the art, fully automated snowmaking system helps Mother Nature in the providision of consistently good skiing and riding from early June till the end of September. Coronet Peak is located 18 kilometres to the northeast of Queenstown, it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive from Queenstown and the access road is sealed. Winterfest events will take place on the mountain and on the deck directly in front of the base building.

DOWNTOWN QUEENSTOWN

A variety of events will be held in Earnslaw Park and the streets of Queenstown. 2010 will see the Main Stage at Earnslaw Park 'floating' over Lake Wakatipu and on the edge of Earnslaw Park giving Festival visitors not only a great new concept, but a truly unqiue and beautiful backdrop being the Remarkables Mountain Range. The Main Stage will be constructed the week preceeding Festival and will host the American Express Opening Party and Air New Zealand Holidays Mardi Gras to name just two events. Mardi Gras will also see a second stage located in Beach Street. Queenstown Bay will also come into the fold with the Undy 500 and Jetsprints and the MOREFM Birdmen taking flight of the main town pier.
